ΕΚΠΑΙΔΕΥΤΙΚΗ ΜΕΤΑΚΙΝΗΣΗ ΣΤΟ ΛΟΝΔΙΝΟ (11-14/3/2024)

ΕΚΠΑΙΔΕΥΤΙΚΗ ΜΕΤΑΚΙΝΗΣΗ ΣΤΟ ΛΟΝΔΙΝΟ (11-14/3/2024)

Από τις 11 έως τις 14 Μαρτίου 2024, παιδαγωγική ομάδα 28 μαθητών και μαθητριών και 3 εκπαιδευτικών του σχολείου μας επισκέφθηκε το Λονδίνο μετά από πρόσκληση του Διευθυντή του Ελληνικού Παρατηρητηρίου (Hellenic Observatory) του London School of Economics, Καθηγητή Kevin Featherstone.

Σύμφωνα με το πρόγραμμα της πρόσκλησης, την Τρίτη, 12 Μαρτίου, επισκεφθήκαμε το ιστορικό κτήριο του LSE (Houghton Street, Holborn) όπου ο Καθηγητής Featherstone μας παρουσίασε (Vera Anstey Room) την ιστορία του Πανεπιστημίου, το έργο του Ευρωπαϊκού Ινστιτούτου «Ελληνικό Παρατηρητήριο» και τη συνεισφορά του στη σύγχρονη ακαδημαϊκή έρευνα για την Ελλάδα και τις Ελληνοβρετανικές σχέσεις. Στη συνέχεια, απάντησε σε ερωτήσεις μαθητών μας γύρω από θέματα σπουδών αλλά και πολιτικής και αμέσως μετά μας ξενάγησε στη Βιβλιοθήκη Lionel Robbins και στο Saw Swee Hock Student Centre για να καταλήξουμε στο «αρχηγείο» του Ελληνικού Παρατηρητηρίου όπου είχαμε τη χαρά να γνωρίσουμε και συζητήσουμε με  το ακαδημαϊκό και διοικητικό προσωπικό του. Ευχαριστούμε θερμά τον Καθηγητή Featherstone και όλους τους συνεργάτες του για τη φιλοξενία και τον ενθουσιασμό, την αισιοδοξία και την έμπνευση που μας μετέδωσαν.

Η παιδαγωγική ομάδα, κατά την 4ήμερη διαμονή της στο Λονδίνο επισκέφθηκε ένα μεγάλο ακόμα αριθμό χώρων ιστορίας, πολιτισμού, γραμμάτων και επιστημών όπως την Εθνική Πινακοθήκη των Πορτρέτων, την Εθνική Πινακοθήκη, το Βρετανικό Μουσείο, τα Μουσεία Φυσικής Ιστορίας, Επιστημών, Victoria & Albert, κέρινων ομοιωμάτων Madame Tussauds. Τα παιδιά επέστρεψαν γεμάτα νέες εμπειρίες, έχοντας βιώσει μια μοναδική «εκτός των τειχών» εκπαιδευτική καινοτομία. Τους μαθητές συνόδευσαν οι εκπαιδευτικοί του Λυκείου μας Αργύρης Μαμαρέλης (ΠΕ 78), Αθηνά Καραμπογιά (ΠΕ 02) και Βιολέττα Λεβέντη (ΠΕ 06).

EDUCATIONAL TRIP TO LONDON (11-14/3/2024)

From March 11^th to March 14^th, 2024, 28 students and 3 teachers of Zanneio Model Senior High School of Piraeus visited London, UK, being invited by the Director of the Hellenic Observatory at London School of Economics and Political Science, Professor Kevin Featherstone.

According to the HO visit pogramme, on Tuesday, March 12^th, we arrived at the LSE Old Building in Houghton Street, Holborn, where Professor Featherstone made a presentation (Vera Anstey Room) on the history of the University, the works of The European Institute “The Hellenic Observatory” and its contribution to contemporary academic research on Greece and the Anglo-Hellenic relations. Right afterwards, Professor Featherstone answered our students’ questions not only on tertiary education issues but also politics and then we were given a tour to the Lionel Robbins Library and the Saw Swee Hock Student Centre to finally reach the Hellenic Observatory “headquarters” where we had the pleasure to meet in person and talk with the academic and administration staff of the HO over lunch.

We would like to wholeheartedly thank Professor Featherstone and his team for their hospitality and the enthusiasm, optimism and inspiration they transmitted to us.

Throughout the 4-day stay in London, the pedagogical team also visited a number of historical, cultural and science sights among which the National Portrait Gallery, the National Gallery, the British Museum, the Museums of Natural History, Science, Victoria & Albert, Madame Tussauds. Our students returned full of new experiences, having lived a unique “extramural” educational innovation. Students were accompanied by our school’s teachers Argyris Mamarelis (Sociologist), Athina Karampogia (Teacher of Classics) and Violetta Leventi (Teacher of English).
